Domestic Violence
We recognise that domestic violence is damaging to victims and their families and has consequences for society as a whole. RFHA aims to raise awareness of domestic violence amongst our residents, provide support for victims and their families and deal firmly and consistently with perpetrators.
Reports of domestic violence will always be dealt with sympathetically and confidentially. We will offer advice to the victim to make them aware of their options.
If the victim is a RFHA resident and needs to move from their home quickly we will liaise with the local Homelessness and Housing Advice Team to seek to provide temporary accommodation.
Where appropriate, we will seek to take possession action against the perpetrator providing it does not compromise the safety of the victim. There are other legal remedies available to protect the victim, such as an injunction.
Complaints of domestic violence are classified as 'high risk' and as such have a response time of 1 working day for the Housing Officer to make contact.
