East Northamptonshire Council

The majority of the Association’s stock is located in East Northants and we work closely with the Council on a number of initiatives.

RFHA is one of the key partners in the development of the district’s Sustainable Communities Strategy and along with other partners are currently working on an action plan for the development of the ‘community engagement’ priority within the strategy. RFHA also Chairs and hosts the Management Group for the Council’s Area Based Initiative, which is a multi-partner approach aimed at improving the quality of life in a number of designated communities.

As one of the main landlords in the area we are also active members of the steering group for Nene Valley Homechoice, which is the vehicle for Choice Based Lettings. Most recently RFHA has set up a Private Sector Leasing Scheme in partnership with the Council, through which empty private sector properties may be used to offer housing to people who are threatened with homelessness. Early in 2010 we also hope to participate in the district’s Mortgage Rescue Scheme, offering help to owner occupiers who are in danger of having their homes repossessed.

Current projects we are working with the Council on include providing homes for the Teenage Pregnancy Support Group and the Rose Project which provides support to ex-offenders to help them establish sustainable tenancies and avoid re-offending.
